Claude Pugh (C.P) Barker, age 94, of 2892 New Salem Rd., Climax died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at his home. Mr. Barker was a native of Randolph County and the son of Claude and Elise Pugh Barker. He was a life long Quaker and a member of Providence Friends Meeting. C.P. was formerly employed by Boren Brick for many years before retiring from Covington Diesel in Greensboro. He enjoyed his retirement and looking after his animals on the farm. He was a lover of all animals, but his greatest pleasure were birds, rabbits and goats. Mr. Barker is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Tommy Barker. He is survived by his wife of 72 years: Jewel McClintock Barker; Son, Charles Barker and his wife, Joann of Climax, NC; daughter in law, Betty Barker, of Randleman; brother, George Barker and his wife, Annie of Climax, NC; sister: Mabel Ferree of Greensboro, NC grandchildren, Penny Pinnix of Climax, Sherry Barr of Greensboro, Annette Robbins and her husband David of Climax, Lisa Freeman and her husband, James of Elkin, Angie Murphy and her husband Mark of Charlotte, Jimmy Barker and his wife Amada of Kyle, Tx., Tammy Wright and her husband Tommy of Lincolnton; great grandchildren, Daniel and Erin Pinnix, Matt, Nathan and Jordan Wright, Charlie Robbins, Kennedy, Henry and Margaret Freeman, Omar and Salome Barker and Drew Murphy. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 12:00-1:30 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC and other times at the home. The funeral service will follow at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00PM with Rev. Charles R. Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Friends Meeting Cemetery, Pleasant Garden.
