Gladys Mae Strider "Granny" Hodge, age 86, of 768 Worthville St., Randleman died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.Mrs. Hodge was born May 31, 1922 the daughter of Matthew and Ginny Low Strider. Granny Hodge was a native of Randolph County and retired from Laughlin Hosiery Mill and active in Midway Wesleyan Church. She was an independent, giving, and unselfish lady. She earned her nickname "Granny" by always caring for and putting others before herself. Mrs. Hodge is preceded in death by her husband, Walton Hodge, son, Tommy Hodge, daughter, Sarah "Koochie" Hodge and granddaughter, Deigh Hockett. She is survived by one daughter: Betsy Hockett and husband Wallace of Pleasant Garden, grandson, David Hockett and wife Kim of Salisbury; granddaughter, Leigh Hockett of Greensboro; 3 great grandchildren, Salem, Abby and Eli Hockett all of Salisbury.The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30PM Friday, November 21, 2008 at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman and other times at Granny's home. The funeral service will be Friday, November 21, 2008 at 2:00PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, Randleman with Rev. J. Arnold Luther officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro. Memorials may be made to Midway Wesleyan Church, 331 Worthville Rd., Randleman, NC 27317
