Mecia Short Abston, age 94, of 4658 Island Ford Road, Randleman died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Mrs. Abston was born in Mount Airy, NC, a was member of First Baptist Church in Randleman, and retired from Laughlin Hosiery Mill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Abston and brothers, Fred and Arthur Short. She is survived by one sister: Veda Short Howell of Asheboro, NC. Nephew, James and his wife Jo Ann Short of Sophia, NC; nephew, Bobby and his wife Betty Short of Asheboro; nephew, Eddie and his wife Shirley Howell of Lincolnton, NC; nephew, Fred "Buddy" and his wife Jo Michele Short of Greensboro, NC; Neice, Betty and her husband Richard Watson of Greensboro, NC; Neice, Linda and her husband Tom McKnight of Greensboro, NC; Neice, Nancy and her husband Gary Austin of High Point, NC The family will receive friends Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral will be held Sunday, May 18, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 600 South Main Street, Randleman with Rev. Jack Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
