Mary Poindexter

Mary Emerson Poindexter, age 87, of Randleman died Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. Mrs. Poindexter was born November 8, 1932 the daughter of Henry Clay and Anna Tucker Emerson. Mary was a native of Bethany, Va. She enjoyed gardening, raising her chickens and doing word searches. Mary loved going to hear gospel music and going back to her home place in Virginia for visits. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her brothers, Spencer, Ruggie and Ed Lee Emerson. She is survived by her daughters: Penny Spencer (Mark) of Randleman, Brenda Steele of Mt. Gilead, and Patsy Runyon (Larry) of Trinity; two sons: Wayne Dawson (Jean) of Sophia, and Roger Dawson (Rebecca) of Randleman; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; sisters: Willis Jennings, Julia Hedrick and Elsie Bennett; brother, James Emerson. A private service will be held.
