Otis Neal "O.N." Bowers, Jr., age 92, of Randleman died Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Bowers was born February 23, 1928 the son of Otis Neal and Sadie Stonestreet Bowers. O.N. was a lifelong Randolph County resident and graduate of Randleman High School, where he received a certificate of perfect attendance for all years. He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII, where he earned his pilot's license. Active in the textile industry, he retired as a supervisor at Guilford Mills in Greensboro. He enjoyed cutting hay and raising cattle in his later years. O.N. was a proud member of the Ernest McAlister Chapter 38 of the Disabled American Veterans in Asheboro, and was thankful to be recognized for his military service during an Honor Flight to Washington, DC. He was an active lifelong member of Midway Wesleyan Church, belonged to the Crusaders Sunday School Class and had served on the Local Board of Administration. In addition to his parents, O.N. is preceded in death by 8 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 71 years : Betty Christine White Bowers of the home; three children: Neal (Rebecca) Bowers of Cartersville, GA, Craig (Darsi) Bowers of Angier, NC, and Annette (Randall ) Welch of Seagrove; three grandchildren: Jodie (Jason) Highfill of Asheboro, Josh Bowers of Randleman and Meka (Casey) Lamb of Missouri; five step grandchildren: Jessica Reno of High Point, Justin Pruitt of Oklahoma, Trevor Johnson of Angier, Jason Welch and Codey Welch, both of Seagrove; great grandson, Benaiah Lamb; great granddaughter, Ella Highfill. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 1:00 – 2:45 PM at Midway Wesleyan Church, 331 Worthville Rd., Randleman, NC. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. J. Arnold Luther officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military honors provided by Randolph County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Midway Wesleyan Church, 331 Worthville Rd., Randleman, NC 27317, Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27203 or DAV Chapter 38, P.O.
