Julice "Buddy" Phillip Capps, age 86, of Franklinville died Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at his home. Mr. Capps was a native of Randolph County and a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees including the Bethany United Methodist Men's Club and also sang in the choir. He recently was honored by his church with the Laity Award for 2020. Buddy achieved the level of 32nd Degree Mason and was elected to membership and created a Noble of the Mystic Shrine in Atlanta, GA. in 1971.Buddy was involved in several community clubs, he enjoyed being around people. He loved sharing bluegrass and gospel music with his friends at Buddy's Playhouse each weekend. Buddy started his career with CBI (Chicago Bridge & Iron Company) in the mid fifties working as a boilermaker helper, working his way to a mechanic, field foreman and field superintendent. While working in the field, his assignments included projects in the Pulp & Paper, Oil, Chemical, Gas, LNG, and Nuclear Power Industry. His job took him to various locations in the US and England. He moved from Field Superintendent to become Construction Warehouse Manager of CBI in Birmingham, AL. Later he moved to Norcross, GA. to become The Safety Manager of CBI's Nacon construction district where he remained until his retirement in 1996. Buddy was a loving husband, brother and uncle. He is preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Capps, parents, Fuller and Nora Capps, sister, Barbara Hardin and brother, Calvin Capps. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Goins of Birmingham, AL. and brother Joe Capps and his wife Nancy of Franklinville, lots of nieces and nephews and special friend, Gladys Craven. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 6-8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St., Randleman, NC. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Bethany United Methodist Church, 3650 Bethany Church Rd. Franklinville with Rev. Jeremiah Johnson and Phil Peavy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethany United Methodist Memorial Fund, 3650 Bethany Church Rd., Franklinville, NC 27248 or to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204. A special thanks to his caregiver, Angela Nixon, who went above and beyond in taking care of Buddy. Buddy will be remembered for his integrity, kindness, compassion, generosity and his love for everyone. He will be deeply missed by his friends. Buddy always said "Never sit down, never give up, always be positive, never lose your faith in God.
