Margaret Ruth McFeeters South, age 81, of Randleman passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 30, 2019.

Mrs. South was born November 5, 1937 in St. Albans, Vermont. Margaret married the love of her, life, James Allen South, August 7, 1960. The couple lived in Baltimore, Md. and Ticonderoga, NY, before moving to Asheboro in 1973, then their forever home in Randleman, in 1977 where they raised their 2 sons; Dr. Stephen Alan South and William Eric South.

Margaret graduated from the University of Vermont in 1959 and became a Registered Nurse in 1960 certified in both Maryland and North Carolina. Margaret had a 30- year career working for Cone Hospital in medical records. As director of quality assurance, she spearheaded the hospitals JCAHO 100% certification. Margaret absolutely loved her job and many of her coworkers, second only to her family.

Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was so very proud of all of her family. Margaret loved the holidays, especially cookouts by the pool.

She is survived by her beloved husband: James Allen South of the home; sister-in-law Jimilea Gutheil and nephew Dr. James Gutheil and nieces Kelli Santana, Dr. Paige Henderson, Brooke Adkins and Dr. Lauren Templeton; nephew Charles South, nieces Robin South and LuannSouth; son; Dr. Stephen South and wife Barbara of Greensboro, and their daughters, Katherine and Christine; son: William "Bill" South and wife Ann of Burlington and their children, Brittney Barnes, Morgan South, Breanna Moffett (Kyle), Justin South, Bailey Lowe and Jacob South. Margaret loved her ex daughter-in-law Windy Flack and always kept her close; great grandchildren: Lettie Moffett, Chloe South, Jax Blair and Kallie Moffett; her baby brother, Alan McFeeters and wife Dale of St. Albans, VT; nieces, Melissa Morrison, Karen Leary and Sara Allerton.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy McFeeters.

A celebration of Margaret's life will be held at New Salem United Methodist Church, 623 New Salem Rd., Randleman on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Johnny Lord officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 -1:45 pm. The burial is private for the family. 

In lieu of flowers the family request any gifts be made to The American Lung Society or The American Breast Cancer Foundation.
